Providing simple, reliable ways to connect with others has become an essential part of classroom presentation systems. To better support classes in which connecting to students in person and online are critical to success, we’re moving to a new system in 3 classrooms; Folwell 3, Folwell 118, and Humphrey 25. These 3 rooms will have the following features:

  • Zoom Room as a simple room control interface
  • 2 cameras; instructor and student
  • 4 displays; with a pair at the front and another pair at the back.

The video conferencing systems in the five general purpose classrooms will be retired in the summer of 2024. These rooms are Humphrey 20 and 25, Folwell 118, Peik 165, and Peters 145. All rooms will retain their ceiling microphones, with Humphrey 20, Peik 165, and Peters 145 adopting a standard classroom presentation solution with an instructor camera at the rear of the room. Connections to the camera and the ceiling microphones will be available via USB cable for use in Zoom or recording.

If you have any questions about this change, would like to request a review of any general purpose classroom(s), please email us at classrm@umn.edu.
