Astra Schedule training

Who needs training?

Administrative room schedulers that have the job duties to approve or deny use of their home department space. No training is needed (required) for room requestors.

 

Who provides training?

The Academic Support Resources (ASR) Training and Support Team provides comprehensive training, production support, and documentation for PeopleSoft Student Records and related web applications for all University of Minnesota campuses. Email training questions to srhelp@umn.edu

What Astra training is available?

There are two training modules available for departmental room schedulers:

  • Astra Schedule Events

  • Astra Schedule Academics

Astra Schedule Events

This training is for department administrative staff who schedule events into their home department space.

To become an Astra Events scheduler you must:

  1. Sign up for training in ULearn. Search for Astra Schedule Events under Student Administration. *For information regarding student worker training, please see below.
  2. Fill out the Astra Schedule Access Request Form (ARF)

Astra Schedule Academics

This training is for class schedulers who assign their home department space to classes. Astra Academics training is offered in conjunction with PeopleSoft Collaborative Class Scheduling (CCS) training.

To become an Astra Academics scheduler you must:

  1. Complete Collaborative Class Scheduling Training, including the Astra Academics portion. *For information regarding student worker training, please see below.
  2. Fill out the Astra Schedule Access Request Form (ARF)

Astra Event Requestors

If you do not have the job duties to approve or deny use of your home department space you do not need Astra Schedule training. Please visit the Astra website and sign in with your UMN Internet ID to request rooms for your events.

Astra Schedule training for student workers

Student workers are welcome and encouraged to register for and attend ASR's Astra training.

Alternatively, supervisors may provide Astra Schedule training for their student worker(s) upon request. Supervisors who choose to provide Astra training must complete the following:

  1. Student logs into Astra with UMN Internet ID & password to build user account: z.umn.edu/astra

  2. Student submits the required Astra ARF

  3. Supervisor approves Astra ARF and requests supervisor led training from 'ocmsoftwarehelp@umn.edu'

Astra Schedule iCop

The Astra Schedule iCop provides ongoing support to administrative room schedulers once basic training is complete. Meeting topics will address issues that schedulers experience in their day-to-day use of Astra Schedule and serve as an opportunity for users to share ideas with each other and receive help solving specific problems.
