Classroom Technical Services-Performance Delivery And Value-Added Contributions

Classroom Technical Services (CTS) endeavors to collaboratively develop and engineer projects in an atmosphere of partnership agreements and performance expectations.

CTS is a proven vendor that delivers projects under budget and on schedule. CTS works with clients to deliver accurate scope expectations, quality, and productive project management processes. As a University of Minnesota Internal Service Organization (ISO), CTS has institutional values and priorities that support the mission goals of the University.

The strengths that CTS contributes to partnerships are derived from a commitment to value-added performance, product quality, integrity, and efficiency. The following areas are worthy of note:

CTS is both the presentation technical unit within the Office of Classroom Management and the University's ISO for very specialized and unique audiovisual/presentation technical requirements.

Deliverables - CTS has a proven track record of delivering many capital and special projects on budget, on schedule, on scope, and that are of high quality meeting the specialized teaching and learning requirements of University faculty - 277 Projection Capable Classrooms plus 100 departmental ISO projects within the last five years.

Quality/Inspection of Construction - CTS incorporates an extensive QA process for all its installations. Standards, policies, and procedures are built into our installation practices. CTS provides formal project acceptance/QA at both CTS and client levels.

Standards and Metrics - CTS participated in the development of the Appendix DD Standard for general purpose classrooms and is committed to the implementation of and adherence to those standards. CTS helped develop the testing process for Appendix DD criteria and helped train the Intelligent Systems Engineering Services Corporation (ISES) Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) teams for classroom assessments.
Value/Cost Performance - CTS installations benefit from extensive on-campus faculty customer research and economies of scale in design and production of our very specialized audiovisual/presentation systems. CTS products deliver consistently high satisfaction from demanding faculty customers.
Project Ownership and Responsibility - CTS has a vested interest in classroom quality as the permanent on-campus unit responsible for the installation, maintenance, and performance of presentation technologies in classrooms.
Design/Engineering Quality/Performance - CTS has never been required to re-engineer a classroom it has installed on campus. CTS has been commissioned to re-engineer and redesign numerous classroom technology systems after installations by external vendors who are not experienced in U of M unique presentation technology system requirements.

Performance Feedback/Customer Satisfaction - The OCM Projection Capable Classroom installations by CTS have received many favorable comments by the Regents, President, deans, administrators, numerous committees, faculty, and students.

Nationally Recognized - CTS has received national recognition for the implementation of its classroom presentation technology control systems and its network-centralized presentation system remote monitoring.

As the unit within the Office of Classroom Management charged with providing presentation technology expertise, the mission of Classroom Technical Services is to deliver outstanding products and services, which continually advance the efficient and effective implementation of presentation technologies.
