The Classroom Facilities Unit is responsible for the physical teaching & learning environment in general purpose classrooms. This includes classroom facilities operations and readiness, including maintenance and upkeep of central classrooms and all furnishings.
The Classroom Facilities Unit coordinates with Facilities Management operations and zone personnel to ensure that classroom maintenance, custodial and physical plant issues are identified and promptly resolved. Classroom Facilities is also responsible for classroom furniture, furniture layouts and identification of special equipment or other needs in classrooms.
Classroom Facilities is responsible for the standards contained in the "Classroom Appendix to the U of M Standards and Procedures for Construction" and for classroom facilities, programs and life cycle budgeting. The unit participates in facilities condition assessments in academic buildings. It also assists in classroom renovation projects for existing buildings and in construction of new facilities. Additional responsibilities include assisting in developing the O&M budgets and classroom facilities lifecycle budget plan.
Classroom Facilities also functions as a resource for FM in their coordination with OCM regarding work and maintenance in classroom buildings.
