| Classrooms on the twin city campus may experience
fluctuations in their normal temperature range throughout the year,
especially during seasonal weather transition periods. The Office
of Classroom Management and Facilities Management are committed
to providing the best possible teaching and learning environment
for University faculty and students
The following are excerpts from the Facilities Management
Website regarding Heating and Cooling:
Interim seasons: During the interim season - between
the beginning and end of the heating and cooling seasons - building
occupants may experience some environmental discomfort over which
Facilities Management has no control. In many cases, particularly
in older buildings, the heating systems lack adequate controls for
effective or quick adjustment to temperature changes from day to
day. If the weather fluctuates widely in short periods of time,
it may not be possible to use heating one day and air conditioning
the next - even in newer buildings. Please be patient as heating
and cooling systems are adjusted during this interim period. As
we renovate older buildings, modern environmental controls and equipment
will be installed to allow more efficient temperature control.
Central air conditioning: The central air-conditioning
systems in campus buildings are maintained by Facilities Management.
During the air-conditioning season, mid-May to mid-September, cooling
is provided to maintain interior temperatures within the recommended
range between 74 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit during operating hours.
