Classroom Audio & Video Resources

Class Capture

If you are teaching in a General Purpose Classroom that is equipped with a microphone and/or an installed video camera, you may use the classroom's audio and video system to record your voice on a class capture system (such as Camtasia Relay) or use the classroom microphones and installed camera with web video conferencing soft-ware such as Google Hangouts or WebEx.

There are three different possible ways to connect the classroom microphone and camera to your laptop computer. The connection method will vary depending on the equipment installed in the classroom. Please email classrm@umn.edu to request information on the connections available in your classroom.

Please select your classroom's equipment type from the options below to be taken to relevant setup instructions:

USB Cable (built-in)

The USB cable will labeled "USB Camera & Audio" and located in the pocket of the instructor station.

Document Cameras (in-room)

Depending on the classroom, document cameras will be located on top of the instructor station, inside of the drawer on the side of the instructor station, or in the ceiling above above the instructor station.
